Veteran Actor Tamer Levent: They Are Trying to Break Us Down

Tamer Levent, one of the most established artists of State Theatres, spoke about the problems faced by artists and the struggle that has lasted for years.

"We have devoted our labour to these stages for years. And now, what is being imposed on us? Precarity, low wages, and pressure. They are trying to break us down, but they will not succeed," said Levent, drawing attention to the even harsher conditions faced by young artists.

Finding the staffing demands of contracted artists legitimate, Levent said, "The value of culture and art in this country cannot be ignored. Artists must work under secure, dignified conditions."

The Cultural Workers' Union will continue to be a voice for experienced artists like Tamer Levent. We will not abandon our struggle for the resolution of these problems.
