All permanent or 4/B contracted staff working in public cultural and arts institutions are eligible to join. Membership requires completing a written declaration form — online registration via e-Government is not yet available. Forms can be found on our membership page.
The membership fee is calculated at the rate set in the union's bylaws, within the limits established by Law No. 4688. For the current fee, write to iletisim@kulturemeksen.org.tr.
You gain representation in collective bargaining negotiations. In disciplinary proceedings, a union representative can accompany you during the hearing and you can request legal support. The union can challenge unlawful transfers, suspensions or pay cuts on your behalf. You also have access to union lawyers and the solidarity network.
Yes. All staff working in public cultural institutions, including artists on 4/B contracts, can join our union.
A union representative can be present during your witness statement. You can request legal support from a union lawyer for any appeal. Notify us as soon as an investigation is opened — timing is critical in these processes.
A collective agreement is a binding contract between the union and the government that sets the financial and social rights of public workers — salary coefficients, supplementary indicators, and social benefits. Workers in the same sector benefit from the agreement regardless of union membership, but only members are represented in negotiations and have a say in the outcome.
Article 18 of Law No. 4688 explicitly prohibits discrimination against an employee on the grounds of union membership. If you face pressure, intimidation or unfair treatment, report it to us immediately and we will provide legal support.
To resign from the union you must submit a notarised resignation letter to the union. The resignation takes effect one month after the letter is received by the union.
State Theatres, State Opera and Ballet, state symphony orchestras, Ministry of Culture-affiliated museums, public libraries, cinema institutions and other public cultural organisations fall under Sector No. 6 (Culture–Art–Entertainment–Education).
