An investigation was launched against our union executive Burç Balcı due to an announcement of a legally protected work stoppage action.

INVESTIGATION DRAWS ATTENTION OF MEDIA AND OPPOSITION

As Kültür Emekçileri Sendikası, we are determined to defend the rights of our members at every stage of the labor struggle. In recent days, the investigation launched by the relevant authorities following a work stoppage action announcement made by one of our union's executives has attracted the attention of the media.

An investigation was launched against Kültür Emekçileri Sendikası Executive Board Member, Legal and Collective Bargaining Secretary, and state artist Burç Balcı on the grounds that she made an announcement regarding a work stoppage action carried out together with other confederations and civil servant unions across the country, aimed at drawing attention to the 11.54% civil servant pay raise — which falls far below the annual inflation figures published by TÜİK.

Speaking to ANKA News Agency regarding the matter, Balcı said:

"This investigation concerns the announcement of an action we carried out within the scope of our union's constitutional right to freedom of assembly and expression. We are fully aware that we have always acted on a peaceful and legal basis in the course of defending our rights. Such investigations cause us to raise our voices even louder against the pressures directed at labor and the pursuit of rights."

As Kültür Emekçileri Sendikası, we will continue to stand by our struggle for job security, equality, and our rights at all times. Throughout this process as well, we will resolutely maintain our stance against all forms of pressure directed at both our executives and all our male and female worker members.
