AN IMPORTANT MEETING FROM OUR UNION: ONE MORE STEP FOR OUR RIGHTS!
At a meeting held in the office of Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Batuhan MUMCU, Personnel Director General Nihat Umut Döktür, Cultural Workers' Union (Kültür Emek-Sen) President Yavuz Demirkaya, Kültür Emek-Sen Secretary General Alper Tazebaş, and Ministry Advisor Ayşegül Genç came together.
During the intensive meeting, many of the demands we have been voicing for a long time were once again brought to the table. Our agenda items were as follows:
The adaptation issue for contracted personnel transitioning from 4B to 4A status: This regulation is expected to be enacted in the new legislative term in October. We are all monitoring the process together!
Application of a blanket pay increase to bonuses and incentives: Our proposals were submitted. We were informed that negotiations with the Treasury and Ministry of Finance are ongoing. We also noted deficiencies in the legislation governing bonus, incentive, and timesheet practices across all arts institutions under our Ministry, and put forward proposals regarding the need for regulation.
Our proposals for salary improvements: Were presented once again.
Inequalities in civil service grades: Our expectation for a solution regarding the equalization of the entry-grade differential between graduates of the Theatre departments of Fine Arts Faculties and those of Conservatory Theatre departments was shared.
Our demand for improvement in the grade and step conditions for artists during their probationary period was also placed on the table.
At the close of the meeting, as the process approaches its conclusion for both our union and the Ministry — the matter now rests with the Presidency: the relevant legislative article will be added to the agenda in the new legislative term.
As Kültür Emek-Sen, we will continue to defend our members' rights, raise them on every platform, and follow through until results are achieved.
