Artists' Union Cries Foul: Appointed Director Gets Paid, Elected Director Does Not

The Cultural Workers' Union brought unjust wage practices in arts institutions to the attention of the public.
The Cultural Workers' Union drew attention to wage inequality between administratively appointed managers and those elected to their positions in public arts institutions.
It was determined that while managers appointed by administrative decree benefit from high supplementary payments and allowances, managers elected by their boards are denied these entitlements. The union emphasized that this practice is both unlawful and a profound injustice.
"Money for the appointed director, nothing for the elected director" is an unacceptable state of affairs. As the Cultural Workers' Union, we will continue to file the necessary legal and administrative applications to remedy this inequality.
