Why Cultural Workers' Union

Cultural Workers' Union (Kültür Emek-Sen) was founded with the aim of protecting and advancing the rights of workers in the fields of culture and art, and of being an organized voice in this domain.

Artists, musicians, dancers, and technical and administrative staff working in cultural and arts institutions face precarious working conditions, low wages, arbitrary practices, and union suppression. Collective organization is needed to overcome these problems.

As Kültür Emek-Sen, we advocate for:

— Secure, permanent employment for cultural and artistic workers — Fair wages and social benefits commensurate with their labor — A democratic, participatory, and transparent management approach — The protection of art and culture as a public value, free from commercialization — The right of every employee to join a union and participate in union activities

Kültür Emek-Sen is an independent, democratic union that stands on the side of labor. It is accountable not to large bureaucratic structures, but to its members and all cultural workers.
