We Are Stopping Work
On Monday 13 January, we are stopping work, wielding the power that comes from production. If our demands are not met by 15 January, we will escalate our struggle further.
WE ARE STOPPING WORK
As culture workers, we give our sweat and our hearts on this country's stages, in its workshops, its halls, in all its places of production. The labour of every artist, every technician and every culture worker is a story of resistance and solidarity that touches the soul of this society. Yet our labour is disregarded and our dignity is condemned to poverty wages and precarious employment. We will be silent no longer. We will be spectators no longer!
We are here because:
The annual inflation figure of 44.38% announced by TÜİK is nothing but a deception that ignores the fire raging in the market and in the kitchen. We know the real inflation. We are witnesses to the misery lived out every day at the bazaar.
Our wages are melting away against inflation. The 11.54% raise imposed by the government is a sealed certificate of misery and poverty.
In taxation it is not justice but injustice that reigns. Regulations causing losses of up to 55% in our retirement pensions are darkening our future.
While the worker's sweat is dissolved by taxes, capital is favoured.
We reject the collective-bargaining theatre in which sham unions sit at the table and sign away our right to strike! We want genuine collective bargaining with the right to strike.
What do we want?
Wages on which we can live an honourable, humane life!
A fair raise based on scientific data and real inflation rates!
All supplementary and side payments to be reflected in our retirement pensions!
Tax justice, and the abolition of the sham union laws!
We do not merely produce art; we defend the dignity of labour.
On Monday 13 January, we are stopping work, using the power that comes from production!
We will raise our solidarity and wrest our rights back with our organised strength!
This is a warning. If our demands are not met by 15 January, we will escalate our struggle further.
As culture workers we say: justice, rights and dignity are ours — and they will be won through struggle!
